In the year 2023, there were reports of a high number of dengue fever cases in Thailand, with 158,705 individuals affected and a notable 181 fatalities.

When compared to the statistics of 2022, this marked a significant increase of 3.5 times.

(data from the Disease Control Department)

As you are aware, common symptoms of dengue fever include high fever, severe eye pain, bleeding gums, rash, along with symptoms of shock and potential fatality.

The use of mosquito repellents is a recommended preventive measure, and currently, there is a dengue fever vaccine available for prevention. In a study conducted over approximately 4.5 years, the vaccine has shown an average effectiveness of 80% in preventing the disease, 85% in preventing hospitalization, and 90% in preventing death from dengue fever. The vaccine is administered in two doses, three months apart.

Common side effects observed are mild, such as localized pain and soreness at the injection site.
